Village of the Arts Launches First SHORT SHORTS FILM FESTIVAL

BRADENTON, FL – December 3, 2008 – The Village of the Arts is excited to announce
a call to filmmakers for submission of entries in its first film Festival, ”Village Short
Shorts Film Fest”. All entries will premiere in dozens of galleries throughout The Village
during the Friday March 6, 2009 ArtWalk, from 6-9:30pm. If you can’t make opening
night, you can still see the films free on Fridays and Saturdays during March, when
participating galleries will be open from 11-4.

All movies in this competition run less than 10 minutes, which will allow viewers to see
most of them in one evening, as they stroll from gallery to gallery. As a nationally
recognized artist community, The Village is encouraging public exposure of this genre
by celebrating the work of our fellow filmmakers, regardless of age.

Submissions and prizes will be organized according to the following categories:
Students K-8; High School 9-12; Documentary; Animation; Narrative; Experimental;
plus Best of the Fest. An additional special prize will be given for the best film shot
within the physical boundaries of The Village of The Arts.

Entries must be original work, no longer than 10 minutes total running time, and
submitted in DVD format with completed application and entry fee. Student fee is $5
per entry and scholarships are available. Adult fee is $15 per entry and non-
refundable. All entries must be post-marked no later than January 24, 2009. Winners
will be chosen by an independent panel of judges, with an expertise in filmmaking.
Prizes will be awarded during a ceremony Friday March 6, 2009, starting at 6pm.

The Village of the Arts is located in beautiful downtown Bradenton, FL. It is SW
Florida’s most colorful, diverse and largest artists colony and is directed by the Artists
Guild of Manatee, Inc., a 50l(c)3 non-profit organization.
