PRESS :
September's Hot List issue of SRQ Magazine
September 4, 2008 issue of The Observer - interview with Christine

Lazy Fairy is our way of saying, "laissez faire." Catey came up with Lazy Fairy after we agreed "laissez faire" is too hard to spell! Lazy Fairy is an ever-evolving, innovative, Sarasota-based improv troupe dedicated to entertaining, training and teaching others in the purest form of theater: IMPROVISATION. In other words, we make crap up on the spot for others to laugh at! Lazy Fairy is available for private parties, corporate events, bar mitzvahs, weddings, funerals, etc. If you have a stage and a budget, we're there!

Our goals:

What is the Vision for Lazy Fairy?
To be the recognized leader in the world of Improvisation for Florida’s Gulf-Coast

What are the Values of the Lazy Fairy?
Improv – We believe improv is an art form and is useful for not only entertaining, but also for inspiring, educating and enriching the world in which we live.

Fun – We delight in the enjoyment of ourselves, our audience, our coaches, our staff, our clients, and -our students.

Inspirational Environment – We foster trust, generosity, and shared vision to create a fun place to perform, teach, and learn improvisational theatre.

Excellence – We expect each performer, performance, seminar, and/or class to be at the highest level of professionalism and success.

Financial Stability – To enable the growth of our Improvisational Company to be self-sufficient through performances and training.

What are the Goals and Objectives for the Lazy Fairy?• To Perform Improvisational Theatre both live and on film/tv.
• To educate and train the community in the art of Improv
• To train public and private companies and institutions in improvisational skills, and educate them on how these skills can be useful in their specific companies and institutions

What is the Action Plan for the Lazy Fairy?
To spread our name using Live Performances and Video Performances. To seek out Corporate training sessions, School Workshops.

So, can you help us spread the word? Would you like to book us for your next event? Please call Chris Friday at 941-539-7931.

We're freakin' funny!

Bios:

Christine Alexander: Christine Alexander dreamed of an acting career since she was four years old. Her ambition and talent come to light on the stage and in front of the camera. She is a founding member of Florida Studio Theatre’s Improv Troupe and has been an actor and producer in many theatre projects including Lazy Fairy Improv Troupe, Becky’s Rejects Musical Improv Troupe, Sarasota Actors Workshop and The gg Monologues. Her resume includes independent films including the Best Film winner "Crime's a Cookin'". Christine is also featured in the principle role (comprised of 11 characters) of the Mini Chefs Cooking for Kids DVD.

Tim Beasley: Tim is proud to be the funniest, most talented member of Lazy Fairy. After all, the troupe is named after him. Tim is also a member of FST Improv and an unaccomplished playwright. He has been involved in the Sarasota theater scene since 2001. He loves cheese, hates mayonnaise, and is afraid of frogs.

Bobby Brader: Discovering he had no game w/ the ladies at the halfway mark of his high school career, out of desperation Bobby taught himself to play the piano. After tickling the ivories for just over a year, he first attempted Stage Improv in an acting course his senior year at Sarasota High School. Just before graduating, he performed in Clue, the musical as The Piano Player. He took his first piano lesson when he was 18 as a college freshman. After he learned how to sing, he did a lot of acting with FSU Theatre, performing in main stage shows such as Sweeney Todd, As You Like It, and The Rocky Horror Show. Other former stage credits include Caiaphas in Jesus Christ Superstar, Sidney in London Suite, and Ren in Footloose. He is a 2008 graduate of Florida State University, where he studied Piano and Music Composition, obtaining a Bachelor of the Arts degree in Music. He is happy to be recently involved with Lazy Fairy as their pianist!

Catey Brannan: Catey, is happy to be a Lazy Fairy. Catey has performed improv and sketch comedy for 40 years. Before moving to Sarasota 2 years ago, Catey performed sketch and improv comedy in Denver Colorado with the Bovine Metropolis Theater, Mile Hi-larity improv troupe and 3 Queers and a Breeder sketch comedy troupe. Last spring she was cast in series of plays at Florida Studio Theater, called Under Six Too where she played a hippo and three (different) dogs. This stretched her acting abilities since she has never owned or mated with a dog. She has a theater degree from the University of Minnesota, at Morris and did graduate study in the LeCoq actor created physical theater method through Naropa University/London International School of Performing Arts. She is currently a Licensed Massage Therapist with a private practice in Sarasota. In her free time, Catey enjoys playing lazy tennis with opponents she can beat (like Tim Beasly!) She smells like Patchouli.

Chris Friday: Chris Friday is an Actor, SinGer, Improviser and Teacher/Corporate Trainer based out of Sarasota, Florida. In addition to directinG and performinG with Lazy Fairy, he is also the Lead Trainer for Corporate Detox - Lazy Fairy's Corporate Improv workshop. He spent 8 years as an Actor and TeachinG Artist for the Florida Studio Theatre. Chris is a foundinG member of Florida Studio Theatre’s Improv Troupe as well as the critically acclaimed musical improv Group Becky's Rejects. When not performinG or teachinG improv, Chris can be seen on many of the area's stages includinG but not limited to FST, Asolo Rep, and American Stage. Chris pronounces a hard G!

Angel M. Parker: Angel comes from a long line of relatives not from the Sarasota area. But, if she had been born here she would have stayed. When Angel isn't taking life seriously, she spends time home schooling her cat, Collis, and weeding the flower garden. Though she has a love for all sports with balls, she prefers running since it's not a team sport and, therefore never worries about getting picked last. She currently owes several people money and favors, and prefers that you not mention her name in Des Moines. Her favorite time is 3:00 o'clock and her favorite color is still orange.

Zan: Zan got her start in Sarasota, Florida and is currently on tour on tour with Chonda Pierce. Originally from Indiana, this Hoosier is rising to the top quickly. Her physical, quick witted self deprecating style of comedy digs deep into her family roots and now she finally understands why God placed her in such a dysfunctional family – to make a living out of making fun of them. Her MFA in Theatre shows up in her many characters on stage. So far her only complaint from audiences is that they don’t want her to get off the stage. **** Zan is on tour with Chonda Pierce for four months. We are so excited for her and looking forward to her returning to our troupe. Break a leg Zan!!! xoxo
