I live, breathe, and dream jewelry. Jewelry is my passion. I discovered my calling at age 15 and have pursued it vigorously for the past 38 years, since 1970. I am fortunate to work with a small group of talented and dedicated artisans who assist me. I proudly work in "Old World" techniques with a minimum of modern tools and equipment. Each piece is handmade to "look and feel" as though it was excavated from an archaeological site. My focus is on originality, quality workmanship and personal service.
The things I like most about Bradenton and Manatee County
The Arts.
My Interests & Hobbies
My second passion is cooking. I cook outdoors while we work. The smoker may be smoking, the buried cast iron pot may be cooling down, or the cast iron stoves may be fired up. Cooking is an all day event ... a creative event and an art form. It requires a "vision" to get started. Next there is planning, gathering materials, executing techniques, and then harvesting the results....enjoy!
My Favorite Local Restaurant(s)

My favorite way to experience Bradenton and Manatee County the way locals do
Tulane University, Louisiana State University, Northern Arizona University
Favorite Artist
This is a "hard" question. I like many painters and artists. I appreciate the way Picasso made us all look at "form" differently. He made us "see" the human voice as an instrument. I am also impressed by the "Impressionists". I like the way Monet and Manet "stroked" their impression of "the scene" with their brush, expressing their feelings. Marcel Duchamp hung a urinal on the wall of a gallery and asked us all to see art ... in it...and everything around us. This is a subject that needs more room and time than currently available. My hopes are ... this website thrives and that those of us into the visual arts find a place to share our thoughts and work.
Amazing work. I have a dear friend Nisa Smiley who lives in Maine and she also creates beautiful jewelry. I would love to get you two together. I know she would realy appreciate your detail and style.

I certainly would be interested in joining--if you'll let me in! At this time I am strictly a strung bead designer--don't actually create my beads. Someday I would like to though.
If you are eve in the Village of the Arts, stop by.

Ned, you asked about 4mm round black onyx cabs, there used to be a little old guy in Sarasota that did lapidary, but I don't think he is around any more. Jewelry Design Center in Sarasota might have them. They have stone beads but I don't remember if they have cabs or not, I don't shop there much, cause they are kind of pricey. I order out of Rio Grande in New Mexico. Try Florida-Lapidary.com They have a list of Florida Artists. Don't know how local they are, have not really investigated it. Also this site lists Rock & Mineral Shops in Florida: http://www.osomin.com/shopsnw.htm
There is also a club in Venice: Gulf Coast Mineral, Fossil & Gem Club of Venice, Florida, http://www.mineralfossilgemclubvenicefl.org/
Hope this helps.
