A CALL TO MUSICIANS FROM THE VILLAGE OF THE ARTS

The Village of the Arts is looking for Musicians/Musical Groups/Bands who would like to play for our Fall/Winter/Spring Events Season. The Village holds Artwalks the first Friday night and first Saturday of every month. We also have many other events planned for the coming season. In December we will have a Second Friday night and Second Saturday Artwalk.

The Village is a not-for-profit, we have a limited budget for music for the whole year. Generally we cannot pay the musicians, but for certain special events we do pay a small fee. What we do is place musicians/duos/trios/bands at various locations throughout the Village during an event. We have portable stages and electricity for your use. We have almost 40 Galleries in the Village. The individual Galleries place the musicians, duos or trios in their front gardens, on their front porches or inside their Gallery, it depends on their space. The larger bands we place on the corner of 11th Ave and 12th Street in an outdoor setting.

We like to place the musicians at various locations throughout the Village, so that we have live music in multiple locations. We encourage musicians/bands to bring your CDs and T-shirts to sell to the public and set out a tip jar, bring lots of business cards and any other literature/information you have about your music/band to hand out to the public. Create a display board (chalk or dry erase boards usually work wonderfully), set it on a easel and list all your upcoming gigs. This is a great venue for upcoming new bands and individual musicians to get your name out to the public, people actually hear your music live and it is a great way to acquire future booking. The tip jar will help to cover your gas. If you do not have a gig booked on a First Friday night, it beats sitting a home doing nothing. We would love to have you. For our second Artwalk in December we would like to have Holiday Music playing.
