LOOKING FOR A UNIQUE EVENT TO BECOME INVOLVED WITH WHILE HELPING TO SUPPORT the DEFEAT DIABETES FOUNDATION?
THE FLORIDA ORANGE FESTIVAL® IS a unique event and PAL Sailor Circus has donated space under the Big Top in downtown Sarasota for the HOME STRETCH of The Walk - a 10,000+ journey of the U.S. perimeter by "Mr. Diabetes" - a 62 year old Type 2 Diabetic. The goal of this 8 year Walk has been to create awareness about Diabetes with particular focus on early detection and prevention. Mr. Diabetes is President of the not-for-profit Defeat Diabetes Foundation. There is an enormous amount of information on their website - www.defeatdiabetes.org - focusing on early detection & prevention AND information incredibly valuable for those who are diabetics. Some businesses and interested parties have already stepped forward to make this a very special family event, including the Vietnam Brotherhood on their motorcycles, a local pipe & drum band, the PAL Sailor Circus management and its performers, as well as local restaurants and food chains. We invite and encourage you to be a part of the FLORIDA ORANGE FESTIVAL® and in helping us to create awareness so that together we can protect our children from becoming slaves to this life-threatening disease and provide meaningful information to those already afflicted.
